ORCHESTRA CELEBRATES ITS 70th SEASON

IN just five years the number of patrons of York Symphony Orchestra has risen from 13 to 82, Mrs. Grace Stevens, its secretary said last night.

She was speaking at the annual meeting and 70th season celebrations at King’s Manor, York.

Mrs. Stevens. who is in her fifth year as secretary, said today that the increase in patrons’ support meant much bolder concerts could be planned.

To mark the 70th season a special cake was made with the tune of Happy Birthday iced ipon it. “We did not eat it all last night,” said Mrs. Stevens. “We shall keep the rest for another special occasion.”
