Letter to members, 1914

7, Minster Yard, YORK.
October 9th., 1914.

Dear Sir or Madam,

YORK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.

All the concert halls have been commandeered for the Winter; it is, therefore, impossible for us to give a concert this Season. The Committees of the York Symphony Orchestra and the York Musical Society have arranged a joint performance of the 'Brahms Requiem', on December 15th. in the Minster, by kind permission of the Dean. The proceeds are to go to the National Relief Fund. A Symphony will also be performed.

As we have so far made no plans for the Spring, the Committee has decided to ask Members to pay 5/- subscription only for the Autumn season. Should we continue our practices after December 15th, they will be asked to pay the remaining 5/-.

REHEARSALS every MONDAY at 8 p.m., beginning MONDAY, October 12th., at the BROOK STREET SCHOOL, (Gillygate trams to corner of Townend Street, then second turning to right out of Townend Street leads into Brook Street). All Members kindly bring all Y. S. O. music in their possession to the first practice, or send it to me before then.

Yours truly,

(Signed), D. L. FRY

Hon. Secretary.
