Orchestra opens centenary year with music by Mozart
IT’S almost 100 years since York Symphony Orchestra was formed by Tertius Noble, the York Minster organist who was the conductor until the 1930s.
Next month the orchestra
will be giving the first concert of its centenary year at York University’s
Jack Lyons Concert Hall. Under current conductor Leslie Bresnen, they will perform
Mozart’s Symphony Concertante for Orchestra and Wind Soloists and Sibelius’s
Second Symphony. The orchestra’s leader is Clare Jowett. The concert,
on Sunday, December13, begins at
8pm.
